I’m one of those people who goes to the pharmacy for deodorant and gum and leaves with $30 worth of lipstick and nail polish. It’s pretty bad, but I chalk it up to “research” for milieu and hey, as long as my impulse buys are limited to $7 mascara instead of $200 shoes, I’m doing ok, right?
My latest unplanned buy ended up being a good one. I picked up two sets of Annabelle Lipsies lip balms, which come in packs of two complementary colors/scents. That’s right, they’re scented. These retractable chubby lipsticks (they kinda look like the Clinique Chubby Sticks) recently came out with holiday scents: Roasted Marshmallow, Grandma’s Peppermint (not sure why they wanted us to think “grandma” when purchasing beauty products); Yummy Gingerbread and Hot Chocolate.
The scents range from barely detectable (marsmallow) to pleasantly on-point (gingerbread). The colors are sheer and moisturizing, and they last on your lips without drying. My favourite is the Hot Chocolate—a sheer, velvety chocolate color that’s perfect for fall without being too intense. Gingerbread was my next favourite, as it shows up a very sheer coral-peach on the lips.
And for $7.95 for two balms, they’d make a great gift or addition to your makeup bag. They’re cute and easy to apply, inexpensive, and the scents make me happily think of the upcoming holiday – they’re kinda like grown up Lip Smackers. I dig it.
