Peanut Butter Chronicles: Buff Bake chocolate chip peanut butter

I have been scoping out this brand for awhile (as you can imagine, with a name like Buff Bake I was interested from the get-go) and was happy when they finally started offering their products in Canada. They’re a gourmet nut butter company that caters to fitness-minded people—their motto is “Spread the Fit” and their logo is a spoon crossed with a barbell which is, in my opinion, perfection. Of course, we’re talking fitness-minded people who still love shovelling peanut butter in their mouths by the spoonful. They have flavours like snickerdoodle and coffee bean almond butter and white chocolate and cinnamon raisin peanut butter. It’s enhanced with whey protein (I will eat anything enhanced with whey protein) and chia and flax, and it has 11g of protein per serving (as if we only eat one serving at a time, that’s adorable!) They are very pricy, but I made the investment so I could pass along my experience to my fellow PB lovers, because I’m so selfless like that.

I only bought one flavour initially, because I’m frankly terrified about what would happen to me if I had multiple jars of this stuff in my home. I decided to go big and got the chocolate chip protein peanut butter.

If I may be blunt: holy shit. This stuff kinda tastes like that Reese’s chocolate peanut butter spread everyone’s been freaking out about, except not so insanely sweet. It has a rich cocoa-y taste that combines perfectly with the peanut butter, which has a thick, smooth texture owing to the added chia and flax, I think. It’s rich but not overpowering and tastes like you just put a bunch of gourmet peanut butter cups in a blender – in the best way possible. This stuff is LEGIT. And, Buff Bake has a great recipes page on their website in case you ever want to do anything other than stuff it into your gullet as fast as you can with a spoon. Buff Bake products are a splurge, but worth every penny.

Has anyone else tried the other flavours? Let me know in the comments!
