Tory Burch beauty

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a bit of a sucker for designer beauty collections. It seems like the hot thing these days for handbag and clothing designers–Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Tory Burch –to release capsule collections so you can now wear their products on your face as well as all over your body.

I’m ashamed to admit my penchant for these products is often largely attributed to the gorgeous packaging that comes along with it—packaging that the companies hope justify the exorbitant prices for what amounts to, usually, completely middle-of-the-line beauty products simply slapped with a designer label. Some of these things are better or worse (Skip the Michael Kors lip glosses and nailpolishes, but definitely splurge on some of those Lust for Lacquer Lip Vinyl beauties from Marc Jacobs) And recently I caved once again, and bought something from Tory Burch’s new collection: the Lip and Cheek Tint in Cat’s Meow, which is essentially a small but beautiful tub of opaque lip gloss for a whopping $38. It’s touted as a universally versatile blush color, and an easy to use application that gives you a subtle, dewy flush and subtle scents of cassis, grapefruit and mandarin. It is beautiful, subtle, and sophisticated, and a classy addition to the already bulging cosmetics bag that I carry in my purse like some kind of lip gloss witch doctor. I digress. Tory Burch’s brightly colored bags, shoes, and well tailored clothing is for the preppy, blonde Hamptonite in you; it’s beautiful when used sparingly. Unless you are a preppy, blonde Hamptonite, in which case, you do you!

Has anyone tried anything else in this collection? I’m not a huge perfume person, so I’ll probably skip that, but what about the lotions?
